Some local roadways are flooded as well. Water will begin receding this evening, where it hasn't already. * WHAT...Local flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...Portions of central, east central, south central, and southeast Minnesota, including the following counties, in central Minnesota, Sibley. In east central Minnesota, Dakota and Scott. In south central Minnesota, Le Sueur, Nicollet and Rice. In southeast Minnesota, Goodhue. * WHEN...Until 1000 PM CDT Monday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 138 PM CDT, Thunderstorms over the weekend led to 3 to 5 inches of rainfall over the region. Local flooding is occurring in the warned area. - Flooding impacts will continue, but only light additional rainfall is expected through the warning period. More thunderstorms are in the forecast for late Tuesday, which will bear watching. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

Cannon River at Northfield affecting Rice and Dakota Counties. .Heavy rainfall over the weekend, along with more expected on Tuesday, will lead to minor flooding along portions of the Cannon River. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. The river level will fall later today and Tuesday, before rising to near Monday morning levels again Tuesday night. * WHERE...Cannon River at Northfield. * WHEN...Until early Thursday. * IMPACTS...At 897.5 feet, Flood waters reach Carleton College soccer fields. Babcock Park north of downtown begins to flood. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 930 AM CDT Monday, the stage was 897.4 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 930 AM CDT Monday was 897.5 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 898.0 feet this evening. It will then fall below flood stage late tomorrow morning. - Flood stage is 897.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 898.1 feet on 10/06/2019. Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
