The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued a
* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Southeastern Humboldt County in northwestern California...
Southwestern Trinity County in northwestern California...
* Until 1130 AM PDT.
* At 725 AM PDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small
stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Ruth, Forest Glen, Alderpoint, Peanut, Zenia, Blocksburg and Fort
Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are expected over the
area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded
roads. Find an alternate route.
Move away from recently burned areas. Enhanced run off is expected
and debris flow is possible.

Southern Humboldt Interior; Southern Trinity

.An atmospheric river will gradually shift south today. Periods
of moderate to heavy rainfall are expected with this system on top
of areas where soils have been saturated from recent rains.
The Flood Watch continues for
* A portion of northwest California, including the following
areas, Northeastern Mendocino Interior, Northern Lake,
Southern Humboldt Interior, Southern Trinity, and Southwestern
* Through late tonight.
* 3 to 6 inches of rain are forecast to fall today for coastal and
valley locations, with 5 to 8 inches possible along southwest
facing ridges. Heavy rain, combined with saturated soil from
recent rains, will contribute to possible flooding.
Additionally, rain rates this morning may approach threshold
values for flash flooding in the August Complex burn scar, with
hourly rainfall rates possibly reaching 1 to 1.2 inches per
* Low-lying areas, creeks, streams, culverts, and portions of
urban areas may experience flooding due to heavy rainfall.
Heavily burned areas may have an increased risk of flash
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts. Monitor later forecasts and be alert for
possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding
should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
