Veld Fire Conditions Conditions are such that the FDI index is above 75. Under these conditions fires may develop and spread rapidly resulting in damage to property and possible loss of human and/or animal life. All personnel and equipment should be removed from the field. Fire teams, labour and equipment are to be placed on full stand-by. At first sign of smoke, every possible measure should be taken in order to bring the fire under control in the shortest possible time. All available aircraft are to be called for without delay.

Damaging Winds Localised problems for high-sided vehicles on prone routes, especially on the N7, is expected. This may contribute to longer travel times. Localised damage to settlements (formal and informal) is possible as well as localised damage to temporary structures. Localised power and communication interruptions are also expected. When driving, reduce your speed and keep a safe following distance. It is especially important to drive with caution if you are operating a high-sided vehicle or if you are towing a trailer. Always be safe within settlements and watch out for any flying debris.
