rainfall warning in effect A long episode of rain, at times heavy, is expected. Locations: Burin and southern Avalon Peninsulas. Total rainfall: 70 to 100 mm, except locally 130 mm or more in areas of heaviest rain. Time span: until Tuesday night. Remarks: 25 to 65 mm of rain has already fallen today with rainfall rates of 10 to 15 mm per hour being observed at times along parts of the south coast. These heavy rainfall rates are expected to continue on and off throughout the event. ### Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
