wind warning in effect Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring. An intense low pressure system (the remnants of Typhoon Pulasan) will bring strong winds to the BC Coast on Thursday. Maximum winds: 90 km/h gusting to 120 km/h. Where: Exposed coastal sections of North Vancouver Island, the Central Coast and Haida Gwaii. When: Late in the day on Thursday. Remarks: A deep low pressure system will cross the BC offshore waters on Thursday, reaching the coast overnight and then proceeding to track inland during the day on Friday. Very strong, gusty southeasterly winds will develop on Thursday afternoon and continue into the evening. To the south of the low, from about midnight Thursday to early Friday, there will also be a period of intense westerly winds. Winds will diminish through the day on Friday as the low moves away from the region. ### Gusty winds can damage soft shelters, tents and awnings at outdoor events. High winds may result in power outages and fallen tree branches. Utility outages may occur. Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
