Special Weather Statement issued June 17 at 9:11PM CDT by NWS Bismarck ND At 910 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 5 miles southeast of Max to 4 miles west of Stanton to 9 miles northeast of Glen Ullin. Movement was east at 40 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Beulah, Garrison, Hazen, Washburn, New Salem, Underwood, Turtle Lake, Center, Stanton, Max, Riverdale, Pick City, Mercer, Coleharbor, Butte, Benedict, Ruso City, Beulah Bay Recreation Area, Hazen Bay Recreation Area, and Hannover. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with these storms. Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe shelter inside a building or vehicle.
